A Fabulous Evening’s Apocalypse
There’s something about a snow ’storm’ that excites the part of me that hates to watch the news. Bored weatherpeople working late nights in backwoods TV stations would tell you that the Midwest’s continuing bevy of snow is the equivalent of some sort of Biblical apocalypse. It doesn’t seem right to call a storm the ’storm of the century’ if there’s absolutely no chance for a movie based on the idea of George Clooney making his way through the wastes left behind. No, a snow storm is more like the gentle pillow suffocations common to nursing homes than it is a rain of fire that leaves all things burnt and glowing in its wake, which is common to certain tropical islands owned by the French. At least, it seems that way to me.
What a macabre way to set things rolling for a new blog.
Oh, that’s right. This is the home of the Black Mesa Cafe’s new blog! You’re going to be treated to the disturbed thoughts of a number of individuals, including mine. If that hadn’t been made apparent already, mine will be the kind of posts which will typically be criticism of daily life or the people who I meet in it. I’ll also be updating you, the RIAA fearing peoples of the internet (and more specifically our forums), of updates or critical events pertaining directly to you. It’s like the news, only it isn’t as boring and probably contains 37.5% more insulting content.
In addition to myself, you’ll be treated to the ruminations of Robert ‘Robbocop’ Bartoni. Rob will bring you all the sundry news you’re likely to care about, scour the internet for those rare gems of JPEG glory that only Engrish and icanhascheezburger can supply, and he may even treat you to some of his lovably dark original fiction.
Probably the least terrifyingly, Michelle ‘Meesh’ Edwards will be bringing you things that are actually important or relevant to people who breathe oxygen and have a soul. While this is only a small portion of the internet, it’s a demographic we really do promise to care about. Even more importantly, she’ll (hopefully) be bringing you some glimpses at her fantastic photography and artwork.
As time goes on, we hope to pick up more people from around our forums who have even more talents that we’d love to exploit for the sake of pageviews. Until then, thanks for scouring the web and hitting anchor against the side of the shipwreck that is The Black Mesa Cafe. The only exception is that our shipwreck has ghost pirates that are bent on world domination, instead of drunken wordplay.
Sort of.
Well, that certainly was awkward! Welcome to the Blog!
